Atelier Chair is a universal wooden chair designed by TAF for the restaurant of the Nationalmuseum in Stockholm, a space conceived to evoke an artist's atelier. The chair takes its name directly from this context. Its slender proportions and geometric lines are combined with simple yet elegant details, such as the connecting bars which hug the front legs. Lightweight at only four kilos and easy to stack, the chair is compact and equally at home at the dining table, the desk or in an auditorium.

The chair references early 20th century work by Swedish architect and designer Sven Markelius. It is composed of solid wood and available in natural lacquered oak, ash and beech, with the beech version also offered in black, green and dark red.

Atelier Chair was designed as part of NM&, a collaborative project initiated by the Nationalmuseum in 2016 inviting four Swedish designers to create objects for the museum's public spaces, each paired with a Nordic manufacturer.

TAF partnered with Artek, drawing on the company's expertise with wood and its long history of producing iconic designs with a high level of craftsmanship. The chair is manufactured in Italy using locally sourced wood species. In total, 245 Atelier Chairs are in place in the museum's dining hall and auditorium, and the chair is part of the Nationalmuseum's permanent collection.

In 2021 the collection was expanded with a stool available in two heights, extending the same formal language and material palette into a complementary seating piece.
